Google Ads or Meta Ads: choosing your first channel
Search and social advertising may reach someone at different moments. Rather than choosing a universal winner, review how people discover and buy your service and which materials you can supply.

When someone already wants a solution
A planning example, not a campaign report: “shopfront window cleaning” and “window cleaner jobs” express different needs. The first may lead to a service page; the second may warrant an exclusion when the business is not hiring. Clean Eco Glass provides a real example of service-page structure that could support a destination, not evidence of advertising results.
A Google search campaign can respond to queries expressing a need for a service, supplier or specific solution. The ad should lead to a page explaining that service and its actual coverage.
Not every search fits. Reviewing terms and exclusions helps separate commercial intent from job, training or free-information searches. Keyword selection cannot replace a clear offer and a useful response to an enquiry.
When the offer needs an introduction
On Facebook and Instagram, messaging and creative can introduce your business before someone searches for a supplier. You need to show what you offer, who it helps and why it deserves a conversation.
Your own photographs, understandable video and a specific proposition provide material for ad variations. Meta advertising and organic profile posts are different tasks; define whether you need one, the other or both.
The destination and response are part of the campaign
A website, information request and WhatsApp conversation have different journeys. Choose a route you can manage and explain what happens next. Opening a conversation does not guarantee that a message was sent.
Before launch, define access, media spend, management and measurement. Any pixel, tag or remarketing audience needs its own permissions and consent review. Additional tracking should not be enabled simply to complete a tool checklist.
Run a test you can interpret
Start with an offer and objective that let you assess the response. Record which enquiries fit the business and which questions recur, without sending unnecessary personal data to advertising platforms.
No channel wins for every business. Changing the offer, budget, creative and destination at once makes it difficult to understand what influenced the outcome. A test plan should fit your resources and response capacity.
Your checklist before starting.
- A recognised customer need or an offer requiring an introduction
- A destination with a clear next step
- Owned or appropriately licensed visual material
- An agreed budget and review criteria
